Deco Napier Town and Country Tour

This 4-hour tour is comprehensive and kept to a small group of no more than twelve guests at a time, offering all you need to experience Napier and the surrounding area. Your local guide is knowledgeable in all things Napier and is a retired horticulturalist who will provide a live commentary throughout your tour.

You will begin the day by discovering for yourself the Art Deco style architecture that defines Napier. Taken from the 1920s with geometric patterns and symbols, this design style was chosen to decorate the city after a devastating earthquake. See the wonderful Art Deco buildings of Napier through the large and expansive windows of your tall minibus allowing for incredible panoramic views.

Drive out of the city and make your way to heights of Bluff Hill. The steep climb to the top takes you to the site of a World War II Battery. A plaque commemorates the presence of the soldiers at the site, while there are plenty of seating areas and garden displays to enjoy while taking in the views. Photograph your ship from this incredible vantage point as you look upon Napier City and the Port of Napier.

Next up is a stop at a local's home for a visit to view their colorful gardens from the large deck attached to the home. Stroll around the historic Mission Estate complex built over 100 years ago in a grand colonial style. Located along the coastal road, the property offers wonderful scenic vistas out to the Hawkes Bay.

Continue to Silky Oak Chocolate Company and tease your taste buds with delicious delicacies made on the premises. Offering handmade chocolates and gourmet products from Hawke's Bay, take time for a quick shop and purchase chocolates or arts and crafts at this iconic location.

From here you will drive through the picturesque Esk Valley where you will view orchards and vineyards. Take a moment at the Esk Valley Memorial Church for fallen soldiers from WW1.

Napier is the hub of the Hawke's Bay wine region, one of the most popular wine making regions in New Zealand. Go a little "off road" at Seafield Farms and view the Bay from up in the hills. Take a refreshment break and enjoy complimentary local wine, cheese and crackers in a beautiful setting out among the vines.

Upon completion of your tour, you will have the opportunity to walk for approximately 10-minutes down Emmerson Street in the heart of the Deco area to the shuttle station for your return to your ship.

This half-day adventure and exploration in and out of Napier will surely create lasting memories as you share your incredible pictures with family and friends for years to come, book today as space is very limited.
